Jesus is indeed coming back, and His Second Coming is very soon, sudden and surprising.
We don't know the exact date of Jesus' Second Coming, but signs of His return are everywhere.
7 Great Signs of His Return:
1. Rebirth of the State of Israel
On 14 May 1948, Israel declared independence and the State of Israel was formed. This is the greatest miracle of modern day history!
A nation that has been destroyed for nearly 2000 years, a people who has been scattered around the world, a race that was fiercely hated and on the brink of genocide, yet they survived, thrived, and rose up to rebuild their nation!
The Arabs outnumbered the Jews:
40 to 1 in troops,
1,000 to 1 in military equipment,
100 to 1 in population, and
5,000 to 1 in land mass.
In the Six-Day War of 1967, Israel defeated the enemy and took back more of their own land, including the Eastern half of Jerusalem. Since then, Jerusalem remains under Israel.
Matthew 24:34 Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.
How long is a generation? 40 years, 70 years, 100 years? Does the prophetic time clock starts on 1948 or 1967?
2. Re-Emergence of the Ancient Roman Empire
According to Bible prophecy, Rome would rise again as a world empire, which is fulfilled in our lifetime, in the formation of the European Union.
Initially formed out of economic and commercial needs in the 1950s, the European Union today has its own parliament, currency, even its own language.
3. Globalization of the World
Daniel 12:4 But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.
a) World Travel
b) Knowledge Explosion
c) Worldwide Communication
d) Global Positioning & Tracking
4. International Conflicts
Matthew 24:6-7 You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom ...
War has always been part of human history.
But within this past 100 years, we had two World Wars:
· World War I : 1914 - 1918
· World War II : 1939 - 1945
Casualties of World War I about 17 millions
Casualties of World War II about 60 millions
Ever since 911, the entire world has been under the threat of extremist terrorism.
We hear of wars and rumors of wars all the time.
5. Natural Disasters
Matthew 24:7 ... And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.
Weather has gone mad, resulting in more famines, pestilences, and earthquakes.
The US Geological Survey estimate that there are several million earthquakes each year.
About 500,000 are detectable,
About 100,000 can be felt by humans,
About 100 are large enough to cause damage.
In other words, an earthquake that:
Can be detected is once every minute,
Can be felt is once every 5 minutes,
Can cause damage is once every 3-4 days.
Matthew 24:8 But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs.
These are birth pangs, meaning that they will increase in intensity and frequency.
6. Worldwide Lawlessness
2 Timothy 3:1-5 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God - 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
7. World Missions & Evangelism
Matthew 24:14 This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.
What should we do in light of His return?
1. Walk Wisely
Ephesians 5:15-18 Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, 16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil. 17 So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit
2. Watch Carefully
Matthew 26:41 "Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."
3. Wait Eagerly
2 Peter 3:12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God ...
4. Worship Continuously
Hebrews 10:25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
5. Work Urgently
2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage with great patience and careful instruction.
1 Peter 4:7-10 The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer. 8 Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. 9 Be hospitable to one another without complaint. 10 As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
