Jesus is the light of the World

The Greatest Reward of Missions

Is there a reward for missions? Definite YES!

The personal reward of joy and satisfaction in seeing lives changed, families healed, nations transformed!

The spiritual reward of growth in faith, hope and love!

The eternal reward of divine favour, blessings and inheritance!

But what is the greatest reward of missions?

The greatest reward is not for us but for HIM! Missions is for HIM!

“May the Lamb that was slain receive the reward of His suffering!”
– Moravian Missionary Cry

What's the reward of His suffering?

Salvation of the lost, disciple-making of all nations, building of a glorious church to be His bride!

In order to understand the profound impact of Christ's suffering and reward, I refer your attention to Revelation 5:1-5,

1 I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a book written inside and on the back, sealed up with seven seals. 2 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, "Who is worthy to open the book and to break its seals?" 3 And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the book or to look into it. 4 Then I began to weep greatly because no one was found worthy to open the book or to look into it; 5 and one of the elders said to me, "Stop weeping; behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals."

God is the One sitting on the throne. It is the throne of the universe. The seat of ruler-ship and control over all creation.

God holds in His hand a book, or rather, a scroll. The scroll is written inside and on the back, which means that it is completed, final, nothing else can be added onto it.

The scroll is a title deed of inheritance. In this case, the inheritance to all nations and all mankind.

Psalm 2:8 Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, and the very ends of the earth as Your possession.

The scroll is sealed up with seven seals. Only the appointed heir can open and lay claim to it.

John began to weep greatly because NO ONE was found worthy to open the book or to look into it.

No one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth, absolutely no one!

Think of all the people, however good and noble, rich and powerful, beautiful and talented, NONE qualifies, NO ONE is worthy to open the scroll.

EXCEPT the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, and He is none other than the Lord JESUS CHRIST!

Revelation 5:6-7 And I saw between the throne (with the four living creatures) and the elders a Lamb standing, as if slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth. 7 And He came and took the book out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne.

Jesus is the Lion of Judah, the reigning King and Lord of all.

Jesus is also the Lamb of God, slain from the foundation of the world, the Saviour of all mankind.

Once Jesus took the scroll from the Father, in v.8-14 all heaven and all creation rejoiced and worshipped.

The great sacrifice of Jesus resulted in the great salvation of all!

But salvation will be meaningless unless there is also judgement.

In Chapter 6-19 Jesus broke the 7 seals to release judgement and restore the rebellious earth back to the Kingdom of God. This is the time of the 7-Year Great Tribulation upon the earth.

Now is the time of salvation, now is the time to preach the good news, now is the time of missions.

May we bring to Jesus the Lamb of God, the reward of His sacrifice.

4 Things We Must Do:

1.   Let Us Pray Passionately

2.   Let Us Give Generously

3.   Let Us Share Strategically

4.
Let Us Worship Whole-Heartedly

Revelation 5:9-10 And they sang a new song, saying, "Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. 10 "You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth."

The greatest reward of missions is for Jesus, and may we never stop until He receives the full reward of His sufferings!
